Must we always teach our children with books? Let them look at the mountains and the stars up above. Let them look at the beauty of the waters and the trees and flowers on earth. They will then begin to think, and to think is the beginning of a real education.

Backpacking Trips

grades 9th-12th

NOS has joined Sierra Nevada Journeys (SNJ) to offer six to eight day backpacking trips for High School students.  Students who participate will learn about outdoor education in a backcountry environment.  Outdoor specialists will teach the students  about the native wildlife habitats, river and lake ecology, as well as the historical and cultural significance of the area. These trips will be in places such as the Black Rock High Rock, Ruby Mountain, and Sierra Mountain.  Please contact the NOS or SNJ office for more information.
