We are committed to helping create healthy, happy communities!

We love getting out into the community and encouaging people of all ages to explore and learn about the natural world!  You might see us at the farmer's market, local parades, PTA meetings, and many other community events promoting our programs, teaching people about the natural world or encouraging people to get outdoors.  Join us for our monthly community hikes and/or nature programs!

International Observe the Moon Night!


Saturday, October 1st

6:00-7:30pm

California Trail Interpretive Center

International Observe the Moon Night is a time to come together with fellow Moon enthusiasts and curious people worldwide.

Meet Nevada Outdoor School out at the California Trail Center on Saturday, October 1st at 6:00pm for an evening of exploring our moon!

Enjoy a moon night hike, painting your own moon scene, learning cool new moon facts, observing the moon through telescopes and so much more!

Please dress warm for the evening event, bring a chair, flashlight, and your own reusable mug for some hot chocolate!

Friday, October 14th

4:00-5:00pm

Powerhouse Picnic Area (Lamoille Canyon)

Hiking on new trails and in new places can be intimidating and knowing how to properly plan ahead and be prepared for your outdoor adventure can make you more confident!

Come learn about the 7 Leave No Trace Principles and how the very first principle can help when starting a new hike. Plan Ahead and Preapre is extremely useful for any outdoor enthusiast!

Participants will learn what to bring before starting any hike and enjoy a beginner friendly 1 mile long hike in Lamoille.

Enjoy some hot chocolate after the hike as well. Remember to BYOR (Bring your own reuseable) cup, pack water, dress for the weather and wear good shoes!

THE NOS ROAD SHOW

We take our fun and customizable Road Show booth around the state to a variety of events such as Reno Motor Sports Expo, Nevada Outdoor Experience, Get Outdoors Nevada Day, Earth Day events and more to talk with people about safe and responsible recreation. Stop by to play TREADpardy, spin our Wheel of Ethics, make an Outdoor Ethics hang-tag or get information about Leave No Trace, Tread Lightly! and/or OHV Safety.
