Nevada Outdoor School’s Nature Explorers Day Camps offer young adventurers ages 8–10 a fun, hands-on introduction to the outdoors! Each camp is designed to spark curiosity, build outdoor skills, and encourage exploration in a safe and engaging environment.
Campers will meet at a local park before heading out to explore nearby natural areas, where they’ll hike trails, observe wildlife, discover local plants, and engage in games and activities that teach teamwork, creativity, and environmental stewardship. Activities may include scavenger hunts, nature journaling, interactive group games, and hands-on learning experiences tailored to each location.
Whether exploring a canyon, marsh, caves, or other Nevada landscapes, Nature Explorers Day Camps provide young campers with the opportunity to connect with nature, learn new skills, and make lasting memories in the great outdoors.

Get ready to embrace the classic camping experience at Nevada Outdoor School’s Adventurers Camp! Designed especially for campers ages 8–10, this week-long adventure blends curiosity, hands-on learning, and just the right amount of challenge for growing outdoor explorers.
Campers will spend three exciting days discovering new trails, observing plants and wildlife, and learning how to feel confident and capable in the outdoors. Each day is filled with interactive activities, nature-based games, and skill-building challenges that introduce Leave No Trace principles, teamwork, problem-solving, and outdoor safety in ways that are engaging and age-appropriate.
The highlight of the week is an unforgettable overnight camping experience. Campers will work together to set up tents, enjoy a campfire, share stories, and experience the excitement of spending a night immersed in nature. It’s the perfect first overnight adventure—supported, encouraging, and full of fun.

Campers will meet at the NOS offices in Winnemucca and Elko before setting out for Lake Tahoe. During the week, they’ll hike alpine trails, practice advanced outdoor skills, observe wildlife, and participate in hands-on stewardship projects. This camp emphasizes leadership, teamwork, and outdoor problem-solving, giving teens the chance to challenge themselves while connecting with nature.
Evenings are spent around the campfire, sharing stories, practicing outdoor cooking, and enjoying the serenity of sleeping under the stars. Explorer Camp provides older teens with the opportunity to develop confidence, forge friendships, and create lasting memories in one of Nevada’s most iconic landscapes.

Over the course of the weekend, families will participate in hands-on outdoor activities, explore nature trails, practice outdoor skills, and enjoy games that are fun for all ages. Evenings will be spent around the campfire sharing stories, roasting s’mores, and making lasting memories together.
We’ll wrap up camp and head back to town late the morning of July 18, leaving families with a renewed sense of adventure, connection, and appreciation for Nevada’s beautiful outdoors.
